AWS re:Invent 2026: remember every session

Over 2,200 sessions across six Las Vegas venues is more than anyone can sit through, and only some of it is on demand afterwards. Here is what AWS says, and how to plan your notes around it.

In short

  • Dates: November 30 – December 4, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • Size: 2,200+ sessions at six venues, and 450+ expo partners.
  • On demand: AWS says keynotes and breakouts are available afterwards. It does not say that for workshops, chalk talks, code talks or labs.
  • The tip that matters most: take your own notes in the interactive formats, and watch breakouts later.

Four tips for re:Invent

  1. Capture live in the formats that are not on demand

Breakouts and keynotes are on demand afterwards, so you can watch them later. Workshops, chalk talks, code talks and labs need a seat reservation, and AWS does not describe them as on demand. Spend your note-taking effort there, and treat breakouts as the ones you can catch up on.

  2. Write down what you tried, not only what was shown

About 70% of the formats are interactive and practitioner-led. In a lab or workshop the useful part is the step you ran or the setting you changed, which is rarely on a slide. Note the command or the step next to a photo of the screen.

  3. Sync your reservations, then set one goal per slot

The AWS Events app syncs reservations to Outlook, Google or your phone calendar. Once they are there, add one line to each slot: what you want to leave with. That line is your first note, written before the session starts.

  4. Plan around six venues

AWS tells you to allow extra travel time between venues, and shuttles and the Monorail run continuously. Group your reserved sessions by venue where you can, and use the 10 minutes before a reserved seat releases to review yesterday's notes.

How Eventnote helps at re:Invent

With this many sessions, "which one was it" is the question that comes up in January. In Eventnote you create one event for re:Invent, add the slides you photographed, write a note or record a voice note for each session, and keep the names of the people you met. Later you can ask which session covered something, and the answer shows the event, the talk, the date and the slide it came from. Ask answers only from your own slides and notes, and it can make mistakes, so check the source.

If you also go to Slush or Web Summit this season, they sit in the same memory. Eventnote is coming to iOS and Android, and free to start. See the other conferences, the plans or how to take notes at a conference.

Eventnote is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by AWS re:Invent. AWS re:Invent is a trademark of its owner.

Questions

Are re:Invent sessions recorded?

AWS says keynotes and breakout sessions are available on demand after they are presented. It does not say the same for workshops, chalk talks, code talks or labs. (AWS re:Invent FAQ, checked October 2026.)

Is there a re:Invent app?

Yes, the AWS Events app. AWS lists a personal schedule, seat reservations, calendar sync, interactive maps and turn-by-turn wayfinding. (AWS re:Invent FAQ, checked October 2026.)

Are the keynotes livestreamed?

Yes. AWS says keynotes and select programming are livestreamed for free, and that registration for the stream opens later in 2026. (AWS re:Invent FAQ, checked October 2026.)

Do I need a reservation for sessions?

For workshops, chalk talks, code talks and labs, yes. Keynotes and lecture-style breakouts need none. If you do not arrive 10 minutes early, your reserved seat is released. (AWS re:Invent FAQ, checked October 2026.)
