Eventnote, your camera roll or a notes app
For one or two events, your camera roll and a notes app are enough. Eventnote helps when you want one memory across many events, with the event, talk and date attached to every slide.

In short
- For one or two events, your camera roll and a notes app are enough.
- Eventnote helps when you go to several events and want the event, talk and date attached to every slide.
- You can use both: your camera roll is not replaced.
Photos of slides and a few typed notes are how most people start, and they work. This page compares that setup with Eventnote, says what each one does well and says who does not need Eventnote.
What your camera roll and notes app do well
Both are free, already on your phone and need no new habit. Your camera roll can also find words inside photos. Apple lists text, such as an email address or phone number, among the things Photos search accepts (Apple Support, checked October 2026). Google says quotation marks in Google Photos search find exact matches in text within photos (Google Photos Help, checked October 2026).
A notes app is good for what you think at a talk: a line, a question, a name. Both tools are quick, and neither asks you to sign up for anything.
Where your camera roll stops
A photo carries a date, but not the name of the event or the talk. After a year you have thousands of photos of slides, lunches and badges in one stream. A text search returns photos, and you still work out which conference each one came from. Search in Photos and Google Photos looks inside photos only, not inside your notes.
Where a notes app stops
A general notes app does not know your slides. You create the folders, the titles and the links between a note and a photo yourself, for every event. It stays tidy for as long as you keep doing that.
What Eventnote adds
Eventnote keeps the slides, notes, voice notes and people from your events in one place. Import slide photos and they are grouped into events and talks by date, and OCR reads the text on each slide. Ask answers only from your own slides and notes, across all your events, and shows the event, the talk, the date and the slide each answer came from.
Ask can be wrong, which is why the source is shown. You open the slide and check. Text is kept on every plan.

Which one fits you
Stay with your camera roll and notes app
You go to one or two events a year, rarely look back, and a search for a word is enough.
Try Eventnote
You attend several events, need to say which talk something came from, or write a recap for a team.
Use both
Keep taking photos as you do now and import the ones you want to keep. Your camera roll is not replaced.
Eventnote is not in the stores yet. It is coming to iOS and Android. Until then, the guide on photographing and organizing presentation slides shows how to make a camera roll work harder.

Questions
Can my phone search the text in slide photos?
Often, yes. Apple says Photos search accepts text such as an email address or phone number, and Google says Google Photos search can match text within photos (both checked October 2026). Results are photos, with no event or talk attached.
Is a notes app enough for one conference?
For one or two events, usually yes. A notes app is free, already on your phone and easy to search by word. It gets harder when you need to know which event a note came from, years later.
Does Eventnote replace my camera roll?
No. Eventnote keeps the slides you import, grouped into events and talks by date, with their text. Your camera roll stays as it is.
Can the answers in Eventnote be wrong?
Yes. Ask answers only from your own slides and notes and shows the event, the talk, the date and the slide, so you can open the slide and check.
