The two apps solve different problems, so this is less a contest than a way to pick the right one. Facts about Otter come from its own pricing page and App Store listing, checked in October 2026. Check both again before you decide, because plans change.

What Otter is for

Otter describes itself on the App Store as an AI transcription and meeting-notes app. It records and transcribes audio live, imports audio and video files, and offers an AI chat for questions about your recordings (Otter on the App Store, checked October 2026). The listing also mentions automatic slide capture during virtual meetings.

If you want the words of a talk, a panel or a meeting as text, that is Otter’s job and it does it directly. The listing shows 4.8 out of 5 from 85K ratings.

Its plans, as listed on otter.ai/pricing in October 2026: Basic is free, with 300 minutes a month, 30 minutes per conversation and the 25 most recent conversations kept. Pro is $16.99 a month, or $99.99 a year on the App Store, with 1,200 minutes a month and unlimited history. Business is $30 a month.

What Eventnote is for

Eventnote is your conference memory. It keeps the slides, notes, voice notes and people from your events in one place. Slide photos are grouped into events and talks by date, and OCR reads their text. Ask answers only from your own slides and notes, across all your events, and shows the event, the talk, the date and the slide.

Voice notes are your own memos, not recordings of the talk. Text is kept on every plan. Eventnote is free to start, with 100 slides and a sample event, then Plus is $4.99 a month and Premium $14.99 a month.
